wiring plugs!

hi everyone im very much a newbie to the vw scene and have started work on a 1981 t25 panel van. the wiring loom is mostly melted so i have started repairing what i can but im having trouble removing the pins from the connecting plugs coming from the headlight switch, do i need a specail tool? if so where do i get one from?!
Help me please i wanna get cruising. :D

Hi What I've used before is thin firm wire with the end to a point, work it behind the pin and then pull the pin out with care, hope this is of some use.
