Pit Stops M5 -> St Ives

Post by Yozza »

Ay up,
We're off to St Ives this weekend and we plan to break the journey up with a couple of pit stops "Daaahhhhd, are we nearly there yet???" I'm sure you all know the format.
Rather than just stopping off at any old services I thought I would ask if there are any recommendations for any good stops (food, tea, toilets and safe), even if they are slightly off route?
Our first stop will be somewhere between Bristol and Exeter then another on the A30. Any recommendations appreciated. This topic has probably been covered???

Like Ian says
Bristol , theres a huge Asda and Morrisons , both have cheap LPG ,shopping , toilets etc , its just off the M5 (look on google) both good for a tea stop

Stay on the M5 til Oakhampton (look at the wildcamping thread in M/O) again its a filling Station with LPG , just off the A30 , good for a sleep-over ,toilet etc , remember its a service station and a busy one at that.

There are a few other 'wildcamping' spots in the thread as well

Also look at the bashtie travel plans in M/O

Only just spotted this and ur probably in the deep south by now.... but we run a popular bar/restuarant (CAMRA Bristol Pub of The year 2009) just 10 mins or so of M4/M5 north of Bristol.

Good Food, Great Beer, Kids Play area in the Beer Garden, Horses.

Oh, and we also run a T25 Karmann Gypsy - our 5th T25 (We also have a T4, but one of our staff has borrowed it this weekend for RTTS).

On the M5 you have a Sainsburys with cheapish petrol at Junction 25.
Hankridge Farm, Hankridge Way, Taunton TA1 2LR‎ There are river walks behind the superstore. Park in front of Halfordsss and walk around the side and through hedge. Walk along the river Tone into Taunton.

At Junction 26 For Wellington there are several pubs close by. If you want a country pub with beer garden and skittle ally then go here. Its about 10 minutes from the motorway. Dog walking woods opposite the pub.
The Merry Harriers Forches Corner, Cullompton EX153TR‎ - 01823 421270‎

At junction 27 there is a nice pub on a canal with big beer garden. This is 5 minutes from the motorway. Kids can run along the very pretty tow path.

The Globe Inn. 14-16 Lower Town, Sampford Peverell, EX16 7BJ‎ - 01884 821 214‎

Once on the A30 you can turn off at Woodleigh Junction after tedburn St Mary. There is a nice cafe there with a pretty varandah. Only 1 minute from the main drag.
Woodleigh Coach House, Exeter, Devon EX6 6JL‎ - 01647 24711‎
