It all depends on where the water is coming out.

If it is the big rubber seal that is visible between the head and the crankcase, then that is not good news.

But you need to check, as I say it might be summat really simple :ok

Do you have an experienced T25 person near you that could give a second opinion ?

Anyone :?:

It doesnt sound good Im affraid I think it might be foobared
but then again everything can be fixed
its just what the cost is going to be
Elite for replacement engine at £900 fitted is the best price Ive seen

Im sorry to say that its almost inevitable that engines will fail over 100k it depends on how it was maintained in the early days but our waterboxers where never designed to have water running round them it was an evolution which had a water fix rather than design & build from scratch

Wish you well and hope you get your bus back on the road quickly :ok

Its a bit more than a "fix"......... If the coolant was changed every 3-5 years they dont have a problem.. but as with loads of modern stuff back then, the idea was to reduce maint costs so "filled for life" was developed.. it also meant craftily, that stuff will wear out/break sooner.. and "life" was 10 years/100-150k miles..

If the head studs are rusty then its a problem, if its just the rubber jacket seal thats died, then its salvagble.. but, the rest of the engine wants to be in good nick if going that route...

Its a bit more that change of engine type , its the electrics, fuel tank fuel lines etc etc
will it not be cheaper to replace the engine with another 1.9?

Are they?
Just going off their Website looked it up the other day as mines done 132k and although the body is in excellent original condition underneath (a few tin worm scabs on a couple of the seems which are getting done this summer)
I dont know the history of the engine and Im getting too old to be spark eroding out snapped head bolts and rebuilding engines these days when someone will do the work and guarantee it for 2 years or 24,000 miles for that price even 1200 is still better than the cost of private surgery to my back!!!

latest :

i took the whole undertin of to have a good luck where the water was coming from !
as suspected its coming from the linner !, also took the rocker cover of to see if any internal damage to the tappets eec and part from the lack oil theyre seems to be alot of mayonaise ! ( could some one remind me what that means )

I will wait till i am back from eig ( without the van ) next week and speak to a good friend of mine Laurie Pettit
and see what the next best step would be

thank you all for your continuing moral support and fingers crossed on what i will do next becuase i am unsure !
what the best route would be next

1 either a new engine
2 mine rebuilt
3 subberu
4 deasial lump

Deep down i have not got much money to play with though i want somthing plenty of humpth and plenty miles per gallon any ideas would be helpfull

That is a good plan = he knows what he is talking about :ok

I would replace the engine on a like for like basis = cheaper.
