Hi all,
The hazards have packed up on the van and the mot is due in a couple of weeks, if the idicators are working does this suggest the switch is at fault or could something else be causing the prob?
reason for asking being that the horn only works intermittenly (hoping it working coincides with the mot) and when the horn does work when pushed the temp warning light comes on suggesting I have a bad earth somewere which may have knackered the hazards.
Any pointers much appreciated
van is an 84 devon conversion 1.9 dg

Hi,
Having played around with my hazards and wiring when they stopped working after I took the dash out (arghh) and fixed them I would suggest the following, in order of easiness!
1) Check the fuse for the hazards works, it is different from the indicators if i recall correctly
2) Check the relay is okay - this is the back box shaped thing above the fuse box....brickwerks web pages give information on where it is located depending which van you have (or a Haynes Manual). If you search for this you should find some threads about how to test it.
3) Clean all the earths, everywhere, indiscriminately! It takes some time but you will not regret it - things start to work again!
4) Check the Hazard switch - take it out from the dash (or remove the dash pod) and check all the wires are there that should be
5) Buy a electrical testing kit and make the wiring diagram you best friend for a few days.......then hunt for problems!
I would imagine, worse case, you will need a new relay or fuse or switch. None of which are particularly expensive. If you have to go-a-wiring-hunting time is the issue.........some learning of electrics is needed. Good Luck!
Post back as you start to investigate and I am sure everyone else will wade in with suggestions too!

Mine was poor earthing on the earth crowns up near the fusebox. Took em all off and cleaned them up. Working hazards. Job done. The horn on mine was fubarred and the earth on the steering column was bad. New horn £8 I think. Clean earth the cost of some emery. Working horn bonus.
Good luck
