faulty temp guage.
Hi just recently changed a water hose on my van. Got all the air out as usual when filling back up coolant. Went to liverpool and back no problem. Couple of days after driving about with no problems. Only thing is that a got on the motorway from work today did about 2 miles from cold engine and my temp guage went sky with the red light flashing. Pulled over checked my water, fine checked pipes seemed like they were fine no signs of pressure but i did notice my bottom pipe which has the thermostat on wasnt hot. Should the thermostat have opened yet. Also my heaters are only blowing hot when im driving not when im stopped. Is this normal. Thanks steve

I only have one tank as im not sure what the guy has done before i got it but that tank has a level sensor zip tied to it and not conected. When conected my temp gauge goes up to high with light on. Saying that it may have moved and is earthing casing this. Gonna have a look tomo. I was also thinking it might be the temp sender

Steve , you'd do yourself a favour and try getting the correct bottles ,the system really needs the expansion one so it can blow into and suck back as the coolant expands
