Ignition Barrel Removal

Post by kervinmervin »

Afternoon All,

I've just been taking lessons with the RAC in hotwiring my van as the Ignition Barrel is kaput. I need to order new, from previous posts the procedure seems pretty straight forward for replacement. However i've seen a few dead image links to a diagram for drilling out and releasing spring for the existing barrel (as below), does anybody have this picture?

Grateful for help.

Ignition barrel is kaput? hot wiring?
Confused.com!
Just bare in mind that you don't need to remove the barrel from it's housing to replace the ignition switch...that's seperate and screws to the underside of the barrel.
You still have to remove the barrel housing..different thing to drilling out and removing the barrel.

I think it is knackered, the bar than inserts into the switch has sheared off and is stuck in the switch, is this unusual?

(just trying to upload pic)

Thanks for the observation!

'hot wiring', it was the only way I could get it home, conecting wires to start it rather than using the key? I see the confusion!
