Ok , it does sound like a few folk are up for this and are willing to help with the organisation of it

What I suggest is , we have a mini meet there one weekend , say late June and those interested in helping set up a true '89-90 in the park ' event can get together and 'chew the fat' with Ross etc.

Ross what we need to know is
How big is the club house ?
Do you have an entertainment licence ?
What does the local community have to say about this ?

We could ask all the traders to come along and trade ,Get baxter to show his new wears and trade , all those's shed hoarders could mini trade , I'm not sure if we should have live music , unless anyone know any 'free bands' , same for the food vans and coffee vans ?

We could charge for the weekend ,say a fiver and put half into the '80-90 money pot' and the other half into the local school ?

Ross , one thing to watch out for is your budget , What you don't want to do is lay out 100's of pounds and only 50 vans turn up leaving you out of pocket. I know its very early days but I've seen it happen.
Can you take some pictures of the site ,club house and area and post them up here or email them to me and i'll post them up.

I think your all going about this the wrong way. All you have to do is pick a weekend and post it up. the charge should be say? £5 per van for the weekend that should cover the cost of hot water in the showers, water rates in general, electricity, bog roll, cleaning and all the other invisible cost, Redsteamer should keep this money to pay the bills.
Then just see who turns up for the weekend and see who goes into the bar and spends some money on booze and food,,[As Redsteamer is making a leap of faith here as well] if as you say its reasonable then the people will spend as there no better place to get together than a nice warm cosy bar....forget about stalls and entertainment for the time being, if members run a business and want to flog you something they could just bring your order/stuff along and any other special offers and build it from there.
This is a bit of an in between Apps court and the Barnes sports club meeting I used to organise,,,It really is simple turn up Friday or Saturday enjoy the weekend and someone just go around and collect the dosh and give it to the man,,,its not rocket science.....then if you've all enjoyed the weekend and redsteamer is happy with the takings,
Organise another weekend and build it from there...it might take a year or two...but the advantage of using a sports complex is you can book it for a weekend in the late autumn or pre-camping season as there a warm bar to sit in......who knows in a couple of years time it could rival Vanpest after all that started with 2 vans and a mud hut...I rest my case

Sounds like a good idea. I'm also agreeing with those who are thinking "start off small and simple to test the facilities and interest within 80-90 and build it gradually from there, rather than jumping straight in with live music, bouncy castles and traders". If we organised something bigger, there would be bills to pay and possibly a shortfall to finance if it wasn't as successful as anticipated.

please lets not trip over our feet.
Small and simple first, then after a year or two, as Terry says see whats what.

I would add here that this venue is far more preferable than Dubfreeze.
I would be willing to move Dubfreeze here and sort it.

OK...I'm in agreement that we need to build this one up at no cost....what I will say however is that there is so much we can do 'for free' autojumble/invited trade/I might have a young band that will play for nowt/ones own shed tat/show n shine etc perhaps.
We owe it to Ross to eat his food and drink, so no catering.

All I am saying is it doesn't have to be just a camp, even the first one. Fairly low key yes.

It's a good idea to hold a mini meet so we can talk things over with Ross but late June is not a good time as we have 40+ vans attending Anglesey stock on the weekend of the 26th with some peeps possibly staying longer.
