Losing Power On Hills

Post by ronboy »

Type 25 Aircooled 2.0 L.

Van is stock a little tappety but seems okay apart from that, fuel pump is shot so has been replaced with a facet electric with a pressure regulator and a relayed switch.

Problem is on a hill the van splutters a little, then drops to idle and will stall, it feels like fuel starvation, but the pump is pushing through plenty, I wait for little while drive off and it is fine, the problem gets less bad as the engine warms but is still there.

Anyone got any ideas??

did you change the fuel filter as it sounds like at load starvation?

i bet the breather on the fuel tank is partially blocked,, next time it does it jump out and remove the fuel cap. listen to see if it sucks air inward when you remove it. if so clean the breather to the fuel tank.
