T25 2.0l Duel oil pressure relief valve location

Post by crazytunes1 »

Hi guys i am new here so please be gentle ;-)

I have a 2.0l cu engine that i have recently rebuilt and replaced vertually everything apart from the oil pressure valves in all the books i have it mentions the one nearest the the oil filter and one near the flywheel and thats the one i cant find, is it accesible with the engine in or is it a drop out clutch flywheel off etc is it hidden by a polastic cap ? i have asked this question on some of the main forums and well the answers have been less than helpfull this is my last resort.

The reason i am looking to change the valves is that i am getting low oil pressure light at tickover. Tickover being at least 700-900 Rpm and only when hot not when cold i am using 30 grade oil i have tried 15w40 20-50 etc and same problem with all.

Hi crazy,
The 2.0cu has only one oil pressure relief valve located by the oil filter.
I've read about this mythical second valve in books also, I think it must apply to type 1 engines.
They don't have a reputation for failing but the oil pressure switch (located on top near the dizzy) can fail.
It might be worth doing a compression test as a start, to ensure that the engine is ok.
