to skim or not

Post by MrGreen »

should i get the head skimed on my 1.9dg ? milage 136,000

After a recently suffering from a horrible over heat in traffic i decided to investigate. I popped the rocker covers of to find a mass of green sludge !! So time to do the headgaskets. I am going to drop the engine and have a general overhaul new piston rings gaskets and all that jazz.
I have been advised that if i have the engine out it would be a a good idea to have the head skimmed and then pressure tested ! is this a good idea i can see the reasoning behind it, but im not sure.

Many thanks

Don't be so hard on yourself..... :?
On wings like angels whispers sweet
my heart it feels a broken beat
Touched soul and hurt lay wounded deep
Brown eyes are lost afar now sleep xxHayleyxx
