High top + windows installation

Post by 1antons »

Hi all

In the process of converting my panel into a high top camper. Been going really well to date but I'm looking for a bit of advise.

High-top - I have a bear shell ATM that I obviously need to line and add windows (round port hole type) and roof vent. Anyone know of a good company that do port hole windows?
Also I have read on here that people have added glued batons onto the inside (size of baton? and what glue have you used?) and then added insulation then ply lined with carpet.

Is there anything I'm missing. I'm cutting the roof this weekend (weather permitting) and any advise is much appreciated!

Windows - I'm looking add windows to my sliding door and the panel opposite. Has anyone gone with bonded glass in or is it a case of cant find anyone?

Many thanks in advance

Ant

I battened out mine where I knew I needed to screw the panels too etc, I used 25x25mm treated batons and used grip fill adhesive to stick um, make sure the roof is dry first!!!! then in between the batons I used 25mm kingspan insulation, foam covered either side with silver foil, then hard board with carpet stuck on over that, blooming warm but very quite up there!!!

Doing similar thing....batons are about an inch wide, but only half inch or so deep. Used planed timber form B&Q. Insulting with the silver bubble foil. Using Grip fill too..... Will use hardboard to make the panels, but thinking of sommat different than carpet for the inside. Why? Because we cook in the van, and I want sommat I can wipe down.

See pics further down....
