Err, found this whilst sitting in the van this morning, any ideas what it is and what it should be attached to? Really no ideas other than maybe brake servo, but brakes are fine.

If someone could tell me what it is that would be excellent!
thanks all

This is a list of all the pipes that I can imagine you might find under the dash based on my 1.9 petrol:
1) Servo pipe (but this would be about the diameter of your thumb I believe, and your brake pedal would be very heavy).
2) The feed from your brake fluid resrvior to your clutch master cylinder (but this would be oily and leaking and your brakes would have probably deceased by now).
3) A 'bodge' to run your washer jets (does it spray you with water)?
Other than that I can't think of any others....
Without wishing to sound stupid, what is the other end connecetd to, or does it just dissapper off into the dash? If it does, where does it head to - eg the heater, the dash pod, the door pillar etc etc.
looks like small bore vacuum hose.....hmmmm.....I know some VW's had economy lights/gauges operated by vacuum.
Washers...wrong kind of pipe.
Clutch feed from resevoir.....too thin.
Maybe someone has routed a pipe to the heater blower bearings....has been done (for quick maintenance) although thats in a strange place.

I still have no idea, although the heater maintenance one sounds likely - I had the dash top off and it goes up, over the brake/clutch resevoir and dissapears into the bulkhead somewhere
Its attached to something as you cant blow down it!
The mysteries of this van will never end...

The Syncros have diff locks which run off a vacuum hose. The switches are on the the dash. I'm not saying I know anything about the subject but it's just another hose to add to the list of possibilities.
