Crackington Haven Wedding ....Campsite?

Post by Blue Moonraker »

Hi all, We are attending a family wedding late September at Crackington, North Cornwall (below Bude and above Boscastle) the plan is to take the Camper and our Dog. Can anyone recommend a dog friendly campsite within a 5-10 mile radius. And considering it's the north coast possibly the more sheltered the better. 8) 8) 8)

you can wild camp at crackington, head down the dirt track to the beach(you have to climb down a cargo net to the beach) lovely spot but watch out for nudists!!!!!!!!
pity those who don't drink, when they wake in the morning, thats the best they will feel all day!

I would love to wild camp Woodmonkey but I think perhaps as it's a wedding and we need to "posh" ourselves up a bit we might need a few more facilities....not worried about the nudists we see them all the time at Holkham

I think there's a campsite near there, try searching on ukcampsite.co.uk it's a great site, I've been using it to book our sites in the Summer and the name rings a bell.

and on the same road that some of our relatives are staying in cottages, so fingers crossed.

Just had to say I love Crackington, my family been going there for four generations now :)

Don't miss a driftwood barbeque on Strangles beach - a mile or two from Crack, follow the sign for Trevigue/highcliff and park just past Trevigue farmhouse. Stiff climb down (and up) but worth it...

evil riptide though, so stay out of the water!

There's a field which will be full of campers on the left side of the valley as you look out to sea, never camped there but always seems popular...facilities might be a bit thin on the ground though ;). Come to think of it that might be the place you're booked into, if the wedding reception's in Trevigue it's about a 20 min walk...

Enjoy!

Hi Carlos and thanks for the great recommendation info, funnily enough the wedding is at Trevigue Farm :) we are booked in on the St Genny's side of Crackington (but definately has a sea view) theres about 60 guests plus about 8 dogs all booked into cottages etc all around Crackington area. It's a way off yet but I'm really looking forward to it. 8)

Whatever you do, think twice about following the coastal lane from bude to cracky. Half way along you will come to a brilliant place called millook, only problem is you may not get out in one piece, the road is so steep and has been the scene of may a burnt out clutch and even at least one blown engine i know of. its ok until you meet an oncoming car and have to stop, scary roll back down the hill.
If for whatever reason your site falls through PM me as i live there (more or less) and can point you in the direction of some alternative places to stay.
Watch out for all the pink bathing suits down at strangles

Many thanks for that info Hooja, a doggie friend of mine (by that I mean a dog owning person who is a friend) said something about the road you mentioned, there can't be two roads like that can there ?

Her words were a bit like "it is the most scariest, hair raising, pant wetting road I've ever travelled on" ....

and Thank you for your offer, will keep it in mind......and I think I get your drift re the pink bathers. I'm assuming by that Strangles has been taken over :?:
