just fitted a 2 lt cu engine and im lucky if i get 50 on a straight.
please tell me this is not right.
any ideas what i can do

Summits wrong! I have a scooby lump so I aint much help sorry! Nowt a good service and set the card or carbs up properly

Its not right mate, mine will do 75 at a push....

hopefully setting up the carbs will sort it. its just had the timeing done, if thats right surly the carbs sort it out that much

My 1.9DG will do 80 but I think its just a lucky one. As I said to Chickenkoop a couple of days ago, manufacturers churn out vehicles and every now and then you get an engine that just flies and the next 500 are average. 50 is slow though. Check your compression.

How many revs is it doing at 50? Maybe its a bad engine/box combo...

worried about checking the compession as its a new lump. dont want it to be a dud one this van is becoming a drain on the pocket
doing about 4000 at 50

Mine does 60 with a 1y engine but then it has terrible gearing!!!!

These old vans are mainly for enjoying scenary if you want to fast get a sports car or scooby it. That's what u tell myself anyway
You can say alot of of things with "ar"

4k at 50 with a 2L is wrong...

2L box should be 81 at 4k
even a 1.6 Aircooled box would be 65..

Whats timing been set to? what carbs? anything not std fitment (ie dizzy??) more details please maybe a pic of the engine bay too..

4000rpm at 50 that's a NA diesel gearbox or a slipping clutch or an inaccurate rev counter or very small tyres

clutch slip is gonna be pretty clear isnt it?? revs rise quickly in relationship to not moving forward
