What is this flexible conduit you speak off?
Would standard B&Q clear pond hose do the trick? Wouldn't it melt?

As I said this is a Mocki tip (and a good un too) I used electrical conduit and used a bit of the original hose for the breather and amalgamating tape to the filter box...........

Self-Amalgamating Tape
A very useful derivative of insulating tape which can be used for waterproofing connections. To use, the top protective layer is peeled off and the rubbery self- amalgamating tape underneath is wrapped tightly around the connection to be waterproofed. Eventually, the layers of this tape will merge together and create a waterproof seal. This tape is highly recommended for automotive work and also aerial installations, particularly those for satellite TV where cables enter the LNB and polariser.
Suitable for permanently waterproofing of electrical cables and cable joints. Can also be used for fast, temporary repairs to hoses and water pipes. Completely water and UV resistant. Used to joint and repair a wide range of power and distribution cables up to 46 kV. Used for making watertight seals when jointing cables, both above and below ground.
