What is the second water bottle for behind the oil filler hatch on the 1.6D ??.Is it an overflow for the header tank ?
I have no idea where it came from, or what it is, but it's looking right at me.

yes, it allows coolant expansion to be contained and provides top up to system when it cools providing the darlek cap on the expansion tank is working well, it's generally known as the top up tank, if system is working properly you shouldn't have to add coolant except to this tank which isn't pressurised.
