My 2.1 mpi van has been stood for a number of months(slightly nose down with a small amount of fuel in the tank), i tried to fire up the van but it wouldn't fire up. It did turn over like it was trying too but no final kick in.
Filled her up wwith 20litres or so of fuel, changed the dizzy, plugs and rotor arm (this needed doing as it's MOT time and any emmission reducing tweeks help) tried again, no joy. took off the centre ht from the dizzy still attached to the coil and tried the spark test, which was a strong easy 10mm gap, so no probs there. Pump sounds like it's priming with the buzzing sound, but no fuel coming out where i detached it from the fuel regulating diaphram ontop of the engine where it splits to the injectors.
My initial thought was that the pump might be dry if the fuel drained back into thetank, and without it being "wet" might not have enough of a seal to pull the fuel?
Any ideas?

Re: engine turning over, but won't fire up
I believe the pump has a one way valve in so doesn't drain dry as it's lubricated and cooled by the fuel, I'd disconnect the outlet side of the pump and see if it is delivering, disconnecting there will show if lines are dry too which they shouldn't be as system should hold pressure even with ignition off
