Having had a "sticky" into 1st lever for a while I had a look under at the weekend.

That bellows is toast (does anyone have the part number?) and the plunger sticks when coming out of 1st (a small video now follows):

Excluding the Lock washers, securing ring and bolts (I think these will still be useable) the Damping Ring, Pin and Bellows are available from VW Classic.

Take them off and give them to a welder that can weld ally. Chickenkoop did this and built them up to where they were - job done. :D

I'm toying with idea of making new ones from PTFE.

Interesting development, I shall make contact with this chickenwhatsit and pursue him/her, the Mrs won't have a hope in hell of working the box in its current state...

Had the same deal with mine: https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=64852

But as I said, its totally messed up at the back then cos, i got hold of a whole new front selection and box, was worse.

My whole selection now, seems shifted to the left for something, for 2nd I have to pop the piston a little when shifting down. Changing gear is always vertically up and down, no shift to the right or left. Maybe thats whats buggered up my gearbox, makes the grinding sound. Once could say there are 2 positions for 4th and 5th, one slight grinding and one very loud grinding.

Its going into garage for first time this weekend, deep in the Schwabian countryside. Leaving it for a week there to get properly welded up for MOT. Gearbox stuff aim for Autumn.
