Accelerator cable probelms HELP !!

This is really doing my head in ......ok here goes....1.6D. Under the front of the van is a long section of plastic tube that the accelerator cable passes into, over the fuel tank and to the accelerator pedal.Mine is split in several places and constantly jams the cable with the carb fully open ( scary), it's beyond repair and needs replacement.

I phoned some of the well known VW breakers. When asked if they had such a part I got the response from one 'no mate, weve never taken one off a van', I did proffer the thoery that if they'd never taken one off that all the vans in the yard would have one on !!!! ...... 'no mate we ay got one ', aaaaaargh !!!!!.

No one seems to have this part and all vans being broken dont seem to have one !!!!!!!. Unfortunately my camper is immobile until I can find a replacement .

Im guessing its the same part on all T25's ?

All sugestions gratefully received as this is proving to be nightmare.

if your really in the poo get a bicycle brake inner cable and a length of outer cable and make your own as a temp repair until you can source the part you need, i've made loads of accelerator cables when i was roadsiding for the AA

If you do make a cable the brass inner from a chocolate block electrical connector makes a great cable end at the pump

I've got a complete throttle cable from a 1.9dg, I don't know if it would be the same as yours?

The petrol 1.9dg throttle cable above wont be right.

I have the cable as I bought a new one. The new cable however does not come with the front section of tube as the front section is permanently resident on the van, you feed the cable through the tube and it pops out by the pedal.

The tube runs from by the rear suspension right to the front and there is joining section by the rear suspension. Its the tube thats broken and split .

A big cheers to the forum and fullsunian as Ive now located and hopefully ordered the throttle cable conduit. It doesn't look like a fun job but its certainly better than driving with the throttle full open !!!!!. Cheers again
