identity of recon engine

Post by melmelody »

hi all,
i dont suppose anyone will have an answer to this but its worth a try.i've bought a second hand 2.0 cu Aircooled engine that looks as though it has been reconditioned at some time in its life as the original engine no. has been ground off and replaced with a small aluminium plate with a logo of what looks like a jumping gazelle or deer or something like that. my question is does anyone know who this manufacturer is?? any answers will be much apprieciated. cheers.
mel.

no answer from me I'm afraid but I would love to see a pic of it - sounds most curious!

Or maybe you have the engine out of a tractor. Is it green - as then it would be a John Deere

hi all again,
thanks for all the replies even the wee taking ones but especially thanks to damien for identifying it as a VEGE recon.i believe these are quite good ones are'nt they? hope so as i had to drive from germanyto collect it and lug it back in an Aircooled camper with no heating for 20 hours. it took me 2 days to thaw out after :D :D :D
