Brickwerks Adjustable Rear Dampers

Post by slobbo »

Well got mine and am fitting today but not sure how you go about setting them up. I know how to adjust them. It isn't difficult. I just don't know what default stiffness should be or how you judge what is right. Is it simply a case of trial and error. Adjust go for a drive, adjust again, drive so on and so forth?
Cheers
Rob.

Start at middle setting and drive it for a few days to let them bed in and then see what you think?

No, absolutley no time, they have been sat on the shelf for ages, someone I trust has taken them to try, got a few niggles to iron out, then my machine shop is getting a new cnc laith at the end of the month.
Workshop is booked up solid until september, leaving no room for product developement.

Will advertise the mechanic vacancy soon as it's a bit of a joke if you want anything doing you have to wait 4 months.

But, news is that the dampers are doing okay, like I say a couple of niggles which are to do with the spring seat, design will change slightly and they will be made in aluminium and use a thrust washer to make adjustments easier, also have to seal said washer/bearing assembly to stop the ingress of water and "pooh".

Well had these on for a hundred miles or so and can report that they are absolutely fantastic. Changed the feel of the car. Cranked it up a couple of clicks past default setting and they are great. I have much more confidence throwing the van around the bends now. Just got to wait till those front ones are finished so I can get me a pair of them as well.

I think they are the standard rear springs off a 14" Syncro. They have a spacer not sure what thickness. Would need to check to be sure. I think my fronts are uprated springs 2WD by Spidan.
