Westfalia vans in their superb build desighn though outside the box and fitted an under slung LPG tank. This way your gas tank is outside and doesnt take up any room inside your van giving you more room in the cupboards etc. Also we are blessed with the option of not only topping our gas tanks up when we feel like it so we dont run out of gas bottles and paying double the cost of the bottles to fill our tanks up from the lpg pump down the garage. We can also fill up in europe where you cant get enlish exchange bottle's but i am drifting here a little. Our underslung tanks have a take off point were we can plug our gas bbq's in that have a lid and act as an outside oven if you put them on low with the lid on, seen in the beginning of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpihoXuIbXk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You can easily pop some cheese on their or even a pizza if you like now what will it be next now that is cleared up?
This is my Westy,
Beautiful isnt it? Can we please just all agree that westys are the best vans or is it not as good as say a Devon because a Devon is 2wd rather than 4wd
I can cook my cheese on toast inside the van, and dont have to find space to store a gas BBQ in there as well (which surely takes uop more space than a gas bottle).
Reading this post it looks to me like a certain westy owner going on about how good his westy is must be trying to convince himself as nobody is saying anything bad about them other than they dont have a grill . I am on my 5th vw camper three of them were westy,s T4 multivan a California and an Atlantic Hi top all Great vans But to me not as good as my My new van A T4 autosleeper as i aso like year round wild camping and i now have a shower, hot water ,oven grill night heater bigger fridge , loads of storage and excellent build quality.I think it is personal taste and as i have discovered there is more to life than a westy

back to this thread at last! the reason i asked about the bowl is that i am looking for the nirvana of a bowl which will suit as a salad/serving/mixing bowl which will also take the plates and other stuff when driving. in fact i am surprised there wasnt a westy cooking kit which had lots of stuff which packed into each other and then fitted in the sink (a bit like a trangia only bigger). i would then have more cupboard space for the crazy crap my kids always bring with them.

I would just like to say that after I read this post we tried our new grill 'thingy on our first trip out of the season last weekend....
.........................aboslutely fab! Beans on toast for brekkie...literally did take seconds with one of the singe grill 'hold over the flame' contraptions.
We've got an aluminium cook set that slots in together, comes with 2 pans, a lid/saucepan and a handle; bot forgetting the 1 cup kettle! I'm pretty sure it would fit in the bowl, but I can't check as Percy is off on a rather
pricey holiday at the garage think you can get then in Wilkinsons or Millets.

Have a look in tk max...I got a stainless bowl with a plastic outside that fits well in the Westy. The plastic outside eliminates most of the rattles...cheap as well!
