fitting battery box covers

Post by samk »

I recently bought some original battery box covers. I presume to fit I just need small screws and washers to correspond with the small holes on the seat box. Just wanted to check there wasnt a better/ proven alternative!

Yup, and won't stick up like screws or catch your fingers.

if the covers are for your autohomes they should be wooden ones that match the woodwork of the interior they just slot in with no fixings.
If you pop rivet the covers on how do you get back in to check batteries?
dont fix it if its not broke cos after you finish it will be!

i was only asking because i have an autohomes karisma that has swivel plates on both front seats and getting at batteries is a nightmare to get battery out from behind the drivers seat you have to turn seat fully round take off steering wheel then put seat fully forwards even then you have to force battery out against the front of seat
dont fix it if its not broke cos after you finish it will be!

I did have the Autohomes wooden ones but they were falling apart and I didnt like the casual way they just sat there! kept moving about etc. The ones I've got at the original metal ones that were fitted to caravelles etc. They are hinges so to get to the battery box you simply slide the seat forward and hinge the top up.

i havent got swivel seats but cant see any reason why they wouldn't work. I can recommend the covers though - very neat and robust!

what is all this about battery covers, aren't they meant to be exposed then, I wouldn't know a battery cover if it climbed thru the seat and bit me on the a**e

does anyone have a piccy?
