Fuel hose

Post by kentishvanman »

Hi,
Has anyone changed/replaced the hoses on their breather tank system.
WIKI says it's do-able with wheel off, any comments?
Difficult to see from the diagram how much hose and how many clips required.
Any input gratefully received.

Well....I've just replaced my tank and renewed all my hoses....so I suppose it might be possible but the two side vents where the hoses attach to a metal breather pipe either side of the tank are in a very awkward position and you will struggle....
The positive here is...if you use the right 5.5mm braided hose you won't need any clips...the originals are just push fit and the hoses should fit nice and snug without the need for fasteners.
You will need four pieces on the tank, approximately 6inches long and another four on the tanks under the front wheel arches (two each side) again about 6inches long.
If you don't see evidence of leakage from any of the old hoses you should really take a close look at the ballance pipe as well and it's two plastic elbows, these can crack and leak.
Also....early metal filler necks are prone to corrosion and leaking (later ones are plastic)
