Not VW - Monkey bike is running rough - petrol help please!

The Monkey bike has been sat in the garage for two years now. I start it up now and again but this week i want to get it MOT'd so H can use it and get some practice before she does her big bike test.

Anyway, the bike starts up and runs - but when under load (ie when in gear with me sat on it) it kind of looses power.

The bike was idling for quite a while so i assume it was hot - but it ran like it was cold. Choke was in.

Any of you petrol experts have any ideas on what i should look at next to diagnose this?

Does petrol go off?

Yup the petrol is off! drain it all out and put fresh it should make a difference!

petrol is skank.. but you may need to whip the carb off and clean the jets out as they will be very small and have got suzzed up.. My Bandit 1200 was stored for a few years and I had to get some new O rings and really clean them out, with carb cleaner and even soaked them in "redex" for a few days...

Also change the plug and air filter , basically give it a quick service .. go for it H
