Re: Indicator Lights not working - Solved!

Post by noggintom »

Hi All, a belated update...

I have finally solved the indicator problem......8 amp supply cable not attached to indicator switch and thin earth wire missing. Found these after searching around, attached and all okay again.

Note to fellow dash removal pals 'LABEL EVERY CABLE YOU TOUCH'. It did not help that I had many loose cables for old stereo equipment/amplifiers/christmas lights/god know what in there - many still live :-s

In the hunt for the problem I also cleaned the earth crowns (cow of a job on a LHD) and opened up all the connectors in the dash pod oblong white connector. He Presto, every other electrical thing that did not work know does. Both jobs well worth the effort. I also have a bag full of redundant cabling I removed and, amusingly, an air horn I found in the spare wheel!! The fun of T3 ownership is learning about their past adventures....

Big Thank you for all the help from those who posted and also those who have had similar problems I found on other threads.

Feeling a bit more electrically minded know! Guess the education was worth it.

Removing the dash is a pain in the rear simply because of the 'stuff' that underneath. It is 99% guaranteed that after removing the dash and replacing it that there is something that will be different and wont work. If you tackle this job and something fails afterwards its because you have missed something and you need to retrace your steps. When I fitted my Multivan dash my clock and LH speakers wouldnt work but retracing revealed broken connections
