T25 1.6TD

Post by bil.57 »

Hi, I own a T25 1.6TD Autoholmes Kamper on a G reg & was wondering can I fit a 1.6 non turbo diesel engine from a similar van & add my turbo to the non turbo engine without any problems.
The reason is mine smokes allot (oil) & the other doesn't.

What if it's your turbo leaking oil and causing the smoke? That would be a lot of work to still have a smoky engine at the end!
Other than that, I'm not sure. I guess it could be done but hang on for the heavy oil guys... They'll let you know!

short answer: no, not really

long answer: many things are different on the TD engine, not just the turbo. The head and the injection pump could be brought over from one engine to the other, but the TD also has different oil flow in the big end that is supposed to cool the pistons from the bottom. Without that your turbo'd N/A engine would cook itself to a premature death

Thank you for the help, I was told the turbo is fine as the smoke is not white but I don't know about these things & how would I check the turbo for faults?

Thank you for your help, if I can't get the turbo checked I might get the N/A fitted as a temp measure as that one runs really well with no smoke.
