Sealing Westy leccy & water inlets

Post by jdreamer »

After working on the side of my westy, need to refit the leccy & water inlets. Have new gaskets for both, but not convinced that the seal will be completely watertight with them just being screwed onto the side panel. Anyone any thoughts on using additional sealant to make sure no rain is going to get in there? And if so what type - silicon, rubber based..?

cheers, J

If you're going to use any I would use rubber based sealing compounds. Silicon based ones usually have acid in them to cure and tend to rot metal.
