Lumpy engine JX

Post by Holydiver »

Hi I normally hang out on the brickyard but got no answers on this one!!

Engine 1.6dt JX

The engine seems to run fine at tick over 800-850rpm but bring the revs upto around 900 and it starts to run rough (shakes and sound like it's missing) but increase the revs to 1K and over and it's fine again and sweet as a nut.

Does anyone have any ideas.

All engine mount look OK and can't see anything loose

Engine done just over 100K

I dn't know this engine but does it have a vacuum advance / retard system? Could be a leak in the vac line. At low revs theres no vac required, mid revs, the leak upsets the vacuum required for advance, but higher revs, the leak's not as significant and the advance works better.

Worth checking. I had this on a Series III Landrover.

Hi and thanks but it's a diesel so not sure they have a vacuum sys ??
Removed KNF filter and fitted standard one and still the same.

Quick fix is to turn tick over to a 1K but still need to find the fault though.
