Cooling system parts availability

Post by Elsaetka »

My 1990 2.0 petrol lost it's coolant due to a cracked cooling system part. I managed to limp to a nearby VW CV Centre who are on the case however they say its a possibility the faulty part may no longer available from VW as it may be discontinued.

I don't yet have the 'official' name for the part but I understand it's a coolant distribution unit which has a number of hose connections to it. I am sure it is where the radiator feed and return pipes go into, (the thin return pipe union has sheered off).

If they can't locate one does anyone know of an alternative supplier?

Check with one of the breakers on here.. BUT I think the part is being made again for VW classic parts..

Oh.. by the way.. its eithe a 1.9 (1915cc) or 2.1 (2109cc) engine (unless its been fitted with a so called "big bore kit" form a certain supplier)

WHat engine does make a difference mind, any idea what engine code it is? does it have a carburetor or fule injection?

Many thanks for the responces, for information it's a 1915cc DG Engine.

Looks as if the Brickwerks part could be the one, thanks for that also.

Spend time sorting this and have found a local vehicle parts fabricator who are making an exact copy from metal. At least i'm guarranteed a match, plus it wont trouble me again.
