coolant type and mixture

Post by tomsneade »

Hi,I have a vw t25 diesel transporter campervan 1600cc 1985 B reg (just got it) It has NO handbook. I need to put coolant in it and have just purchased from the local garage the ONLY coolant that they had. ...SHELL CONCENTRATE RADIATOR FLUID(suitable for water cooled internal combustion engines) It recommends mixing it with demineralised water as per the cars handbook?? Could someone please reassure me that I have bought the right stuff AND advise me of the correct mixture ratio. Many thanks in advance for any help. Tom. (brand new and green camper van owner!)

No need for "special" (costly) stuff.. good quality stuff is fine.. only thing is the system holds about 17L so 5L of concentrate wont be enough.. (unless its very very concentrated) usualy you want to mix it 50/50.. (antifreeze should have a recomended dilution on it too)

Is there none in it at present? that would be a little odd....
