Removing the fan

Post by albertramsbottom »

HI

I am trying to remove my fan so I can get TDC (another thread) and have removed the three outside bolts and the inner one but the thing is still solid. I have a manual and that appears to suggest I only need to remove the three outside ones. Am i missing somthing here? Or would it need a tap with ammmer get get it out.

Here is a piccy

Use a puller to remove it as they can be very tight

Does the middle bolt need undoing as the manual says just the three outside ones

In theory just undo the three bolts then the fan should come off from the hub with a bit of gentle persuasion. Otherwise release the centre bolt and take the fan off with the hub using a small harmonic balancer type puller.

A little WD40 and a GENTLE tap around the pulley with a hammer should help free it. It has a key way

Cheers guys

But I can see how i could remove the fan with the centre bolt in. as It looks to be one peice of metal. Perhaps a quike scrape might show the fan from the housing

The fan fits onto this hub with the three bolts.

Removing the fan belt would help too! It's still in place in your first piccy.

Yes I am as somone told me that the woodruff key centre at 90 degrees is TDC. I have been strugling to find TDC as i cant really see in the cylinder and as they are horizontal it is difficult to find it using a pencil
