2.1 squirty noise not happening

Post by SCOOTER VAN »

Due to a few money problems my vans been sat on the 'sort' of private lane near my house since november, it now has to be moved quite urgently so If anyone can help you may save me a bit of time and stress. It's a 2.1 injection (1990), the battery light is still showing green although it's only been started a few times in the last 6 months. When i turn the key it does try to start but the injection noise (2 spurts) and the flashing red light isn't happening, would it need a lot of battery power to make the injection work? or could the injecter be broken although it was all fine when parked up. Sorry to be a pain, and thanks for all the answers over the years that I have managed to find without posting. Paul

It's not going to hurt it to take the battery off and give it a proper charge
What a long strange trip it's been

Yeh sorry Andi, should have done that first, I've had a run of bad luck lately so just thought the worse. I have no technical knowledge at all and since being made redunadant have lost my mate who use to love working on my van, so i'm a bit on me own at the moment. Will using my small 12v battery charger I use for my scooter be ok to charge a vans one?

I'm sure there are others with a better grasp of chargers than me, but if it can give a steady slow charge overnight it's got be better than nothing. There were some really good battery chargers from Lidl a few weeks ago for not much money, have a search on here for more info on those.
It's been said a few times that these vans vans don't like to be stood up for a long time. It's worth going over everything in the ignition system and giving it a good clean up, an oil change etc (basically a good service) and once you know you have a fully charged battery, give it another go

Good Luck
:ok

Thanks for your help gents, I'm kicking myself for not starting her up once a month now, but when the MOT ran out I was happier to pretend she wasn't there as it just brought me down. I could do with a proper charger so will pop down Lidl later. I'll give the battery a proper charge and if I can get her started I'll make sure I get someone to give it the once over, If not and there's anyone who wants to earn a few pound to have a look I'll be most greatful. I live in Cardiff, I'll let you know how things go, thanks again for your help. Paul
