air or watercooled ?

Post by tomsneade »

Hi, I have just bought a vw transporter camper 1985 B reg 1600 diesel. It has TWO grilles on the front (which, I have read, would indicate that it is a watercooled engine) however the previous owner thinks it is an Aircooled one....Can anyone advise please. Thanks, Tom. :?:

If it's a diesel then it's got to be watercooled.

If he thought it was Aircooled, check it has water in it.

Seriously, how can you own a van like that and not know?

Welcome by the way :)

I cant tell you how many times I have been told mine has an Aircooled engine........ so its not unrealistic.. BUT if the owner hasnt a clue, they can NEVER have lifted the engine lid to check ol and water..

I'd suggest you get it checked over/serviced asap :rofl :rofl
