i doubt flashband will stick on waxoyl. as a rule, nothing will stick to waxoyl. the only thing that might work is if as above you coat it on thick enough to impregnate a thin insulation layer placed over it. are you sure you want to use it?

here are my efforts - the thermal wrap fitted snugly into the gaps and didnt need much sticking - i just used aluminium tape to hold it together:
