Re: solex problem.
Can you close the throttle by hand?
The only things that would stop the throttle closing are sticking pedal or linkage under pedal, sticking throttle cable, broken throttle plate return spring on carb or a partly seized throttle shaft.

Re: solex problem.
I've had this problem and it was the outer cable where it goes through the engine bay bulkhead.
If you look in through the offside wheel arch behind the heat exchanger you may see the cable you can reach it without having to remove the wheel and just a slight movement of it freed it back into its hole through the bulkhead. Its normally if I have given the throttle a full push to the floor.
Hope this helps

ive been out and fixed it, then read these replies

rugchucker, your spot on. i changed the starter motor yesterday and must have pulled the outer cable enough so it sat on top of the gland thus holding the throttle open.
thanks for your help fellas, pickering next weekend was looking a bit dodgy there for a minute
