Insurance

Post by guzzi »

Hello all

Well its nearing zero hour re picking up my van from Syncronutz and i am having to think about insurance. Apologies if it has popped up before (i am sure it has) but i wanted to get the latest info.

What is people’s opinion re the best company?
Does the syncro bit make any difference?
It is of course very modified and LHD will that try and rob me for that?
Agreed value?
Will they even know what i am talking about?
It will need to include cover for Europe.

Any estimates of what i should be paying (34 and Essex)

I haven't looked but expect there's plenty in the wiki on different companies but here's my recent experience...

Glynwood was recommended but they were way more than HIC (x2!) for the same cover.

I went with HIC and paid a few pounds extra for a stainless exhaust as it apparently enhances the performance (I suppose it didn't blow like the old one so I let that one go!) and they give you 90 days Euro cover and for £85 you get full home recovery breakdown with 60 days Euro included. I tried everywhere else for Euro breakdown but anything over 15 years old is difficult. At least they can't quibble that I didn't tell them what vehicle it was as they know everything

I'm 35, no points etc, the van is garaged and I live in a rural low crime type area and paid £160 insurance and £85 breakdown. There was 6 years no claims mirrored from another vehicle's policy to help it along also. I have had the van with HIC for three years now (since I bought it) and they have become cheaper each year, which is nice! I suppose my van is worth £8k (that's what they have it down as anyway).

Hope this helps you in your quest and all I can say is don't skimp on a deal that seems to good to be true, they usually are!

:ok
