Heating
Just pricing up heating and already knew about propex heaters and espachers(?). Came across another webasto (forget spelling i cant remember without checking back). Anyway I need heating that I can have on while driving and while parked up, Webasto quote was £950! I think when I investigated last time and went for the respray instead propex was about £500. I dont know which way to go with this but know the van isnt going to be used unless I do something about it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Heating
the cheapest route is propex, all it needs is a good leisure battery and a gas supply...... i wouldnt advise you go down the ebberspacher or webasto route in your circumstances tbh, you having a Aircooled petrol van .
i would say if you possibly can hang on a couple of months then try and buy one, when people are busy complaining they are too hot and spending all their time trying to buy fans and sliding windows.

Just wondering why you are advising against an Eberspacher/Webasto because of an Aircooled petrol vehicle?

Ah well now this could be delicate but yes . you will need a 'personage of one sex or the other 'that is perhaps a little bit inclined but there lies the rub, how much inclination or in fact declination, yes definately find a person with declination.
Really you should have a leisure battery fitted,

Re: Heating
Well if im going for a heating package that needs a leisure battery presumably under my passenger seat then perhaps I should also have a nice captains seat put on top of that too! Personally I cant see the problem with going to bed at six oclock!
Right then think original propex will be cheapest option for me.

purely because Jo would have to pay someone to fit the heater, and the cheapest route would be a gas heater, so propex .
Diesel heaters would require a second fuel tank, are more messing about and cost more than propex to buy, although are much cheaper to run.
Getting a garage to fit a Diesel heater would almost definately incurre a larger bill than getting a gas fitter to fit a propex to a van that already has a domestic LPG system.
You dont have to fit a leisure battery, as both the propex and Diesel heater have low voltage protection built in, and so wouldnt flattern the vehicle battery to a point where the engine couldnt be started, but it would make sense to have a battery for the domestic needs in a fully fitted camper........
just my opinion.... normally i would say ebberspacher every time, but having met Jo and knowing a little about her circumstances ( albeit a few years out of date info) I just think propex would be more appropriate.

Re: Heating
But Eberspacher and Webasto heaters are not just diesel - they make petrol models also.
Using gas you would need a gas bottle/storage etc. whereas you just use the vehicle's tank for the others.

Re: Heating
like i said its a camper, it already has a domestic LPG supply, and i would never recommend a petrol ebberspacher or webasto, ever.

Re: Heating
Hey Mocki,
The LPG never was installed. Cash crisis two years ago, unemployed etc for a while got put on the back burner. So the van exterior got its overhaul the rest had to wait.
I have Petrol. And a gas bottle for the stove. I never hook up electricity wise because I am a camper at heart though I do have gas lantern and torches. The van does have electric hookup for fridge and lights etc if I used it.
Does that change things?
Same partner as at Vanfest but albeit considerably worse shape than he was then. Ive worn him out LOL
Jojo
