Hello everyone, it's me again ..... Tommy Trouble!
I was told by ex-owner in 2005 that the shed had a new Wolfsburg engine (was a DJ) but did not give any further details. I have noticed that in an effort to answer my many queries, you guys have asked `what engine do you have in her,` so I asked (in writing) the outfit (BBBC, Bridgend) that had the vehicle to refurbish the linkages to furnish me with this information. This was their answer:-
"I can not find the I'd no I looked at all the places I could get to but found no number. I believe it is a standard engine and it would have just been tuned up by the German tuning company as far as I am aware they did not replace an engine but would rebuild and modify the original engine . I know this is not much help to you buy I think when ordering parts for it if you just give the registration no it should be ok".
Does this answer square with you guys, cos I thought (probably mistakenly) that all engines have some sort of number?
An enigma?
Eric.

Blimey Paddy.
So is there a way one can determine what size engine is in it?
Eric.

Re: Engine Identification Number/Make.
My van is supposed to be a 112hp DJ but although the injection system is DJ the block has an engine number starting MV. It runs fine on 95ron and is tuned to 5deg btdc and as the economy is 23mpg max, I expect it is the lower compression engine. Runs nice though.
Best bet to make sure it has no number is to see for yourself where they are on someone else's and the check yours. Mine's a little awkward to see on the pulley side of the engine near the middle of the face if I recall correctly.
That said, if it's plumbed like a DJ and runs like a DJ, it's probably safe to buy parts for a DJ.
