Is a number 8 filter too weak for MIG?

I never got on with auto lenses, if you do a lot of migging then get a glass that has a thin film of gold applied, about £10 a time , this stopped all eyestrain etc

my mask conforms to BS1542 class3 and i have never had any problems with it, not an expencive one but it has lasted aboy 10 years now. be carfull of auto masks you only have to drop them once and they can break.
