yes,go on Bren i'm learning.keep going....

ok...
1. Have any wires become detached?
2. Have any pcb tracks burnt out or broken?
3. Is there any blackened, charred or fish smelly componants?

Failing the above you're going to need a specialist with the necessary electronic chip/componant knowledge and equipment such as an oscilloscope (oh, and a wad of banknotes).

Argos sell bins as well by the way

Are you using underrated cables to connect it? - A bit like using Webasto and Eberspacher heaters with underrated cables leads to a voltage drop thus no worky righty. Check out the terminals are soldered properly/crimped tight/screwed on tight.

Looks like a couple of the beans may have baked. The chips look fine but the twists have obviously been cooked. The fish smell will probably be the tuner.......

You'd probably be better off chucking it at Andy as he used to fix T.V's and the like didn't he? I did get an electronic qualification but that was back in the 80's and I haven't had sod all to do with electronics since (plus I don't possess any equipment more complicated than a basic Avometer).

I bought a 350w inverter from Argos last year for £20 and it too made the horrid squealing noise. Nothing was plugged into it. This was when engine was both stopped and running. Noticed that when engine was running, and then switched inverter on, engine note dropped slightly due to the increased load on the alternator, indicating a big current being drawn... I didn't have more than about 10 seconds to ponder this however as it caught fire! Needless to say I took it back and got a refund (having lost faith in the product, and not wanting to fork out on the more expensive brand).

Good god man....how many times do I have to tell you....
PENNE Pasta....not those shoddy northern spirals...no wonder it curled up and died.
Those beans look suspiciously pale too.....aldi's finest perchance?

If it makes you feel better, when we came back off holiday in Jan the boat plumbing had frozen and fractured, leaving my 2kw pure sine-wave inverter sat in 4 inch of water for days...that too was knackered!
