No ricicles youve got the wrong end of the stick there, by metal rings i was talking about what looks like metal inserts where the bolts go through the flywheel!

I see what you mean about the shims (well sort of!) Ill take it to an engineers, do they measure end float without needing the crankcase?

I dont want to go down the road of having the face machined after welding if i can avoid it, i want to either use a flap disc to flatten the weld or use quiksteel/jb weld instead.

Stop.. go and read the Haynes manual again.. how to check the endfloat is in there and no you cant do it without assembling the crank into the crank case..

You are still confusing me over the "flywheel inserts"...... there are none..........

Fair enough i will take a look at the haynes, it has been awhile since i last picked it up!

Ill get better pics of the flywheels, one is definately different to the other where the bolts go in.

Actually, where have all the pictures from this thread gone! :shock:
