Help please guys, my single cab has rear brake linings that dont match the standard issue from my local GSF, my mate Nigel says the part no.s are 251 609 265a on one shoe and 251 609c on the other, these are apparently totally different from what we have bought and the local VW dealer also says these numbers are obsolete. the shoes appear to be original and the linings are riveted on.
Any ideas please?

Just did my back breaks and like you say they were riveted on. I just poped some non riveted ones on at they seem to work ok.

Just popped in to see the problem on the truck for myself, rear shoes are original 1987 fitment, looks as if GSF got it wrong, the shoes they
supplied had no handbrake operating lever or manual adjustment attached,however were the same in every other respect.
Now ordered the correct parts elsewhere.

Aah, thanks Russell, last time I went into GSF in Plymouth they gave me a Volvo part when I asked for a T25 part! never mind!

Hmmm pattern emerging here ....... but my experience of both GSF and JK are the same. My opinion of them both rhymes with 'bankers'

Got to be careful with GSF. If I remember they have a crap returns policy. Something like a couple of weeks else forget it. Not great if your buying parts as spares or in anticipation of a big job. I ordered Type 4 engine heat exchangers from them and got 2 of the same side then 2 different versions. Ended up having to speak to the guy that was picking the parts. No idea what so ever. A mate bought brake pads and when he went to fit them found they were the wrong part. They wouldn't swap them or refund him as he was out of the short window for returns. I check and double check everything I order from them now.

And then they recomend to customers buying brakes for Peugeots (which commonly have 2 completely different brands of calapers with non interchangeable parts (including pads) that aren't identifyable by model, only visual inspection and perhaps the dealers computer records). that you can buy both types and return the wrong ones with no fuss - wonder how many they catch out.
That said I was surprised and impressed how easy it was for me to return a 2WD diesel accelerator cable I bought from a different branch a couple of weeks later, they said as it was a differnet store they wern't quite sure how it'd work but they managed it. Perhaps thats the answer if one branch doesn't play ball and your passing another. Does make a change as GSF usally claim I'm wrong and don't know what I own as they don't think you can get a 1992 model 't25' (calling it a T3 or "type2 syncro" (like it says on their parts computer!) doesn't get anyware). They are convinced it must be a T4 at that age and I must be pritty thick, so when they then ask is it front or rear wheel drive my reply of "both" really goes down well.
