Making bed more comfortable?

Post by Big Boris »

Hi all,

Our rock and roll bed doesn't feel the most comfortable thing in the world after a night or two. Actually even one night and it gives us a sore back as I think the 'seam' from where the bed goes from vertical to horizontal is right on our lower backs.

What do others do to make their beds super comfy but without having to take too much extra stuff as when we go to France we already have quite a lot of things with us!

Thanks.

Could try the quick fix but like my head 'up top'!!!

I did think about a memory foam topper. Might just have to bite the bullet and get one. Could always have a few extra beers to anaesthetise myself!!

I always get a fab nights sleep in the van but hubby would argue that may have something to do with the vodka intake!!

if sleeping the 'wrong' way around doesn't work, how about trying a thin airbed (like the 'self inflating' ones) or even a memory foam mattress topper cut to size....

if that fails.....fill yourself with vodka! :ok

A futon matress off a cheap sofa bed is a handy addition. Got mine new from a sale room for £14, as a complete sofa for the spare room a while ago. The matress folds nicely on the seat in the, er seat position, and just gives quite a bit of extra comfort when in the bed position.
What a long strange trip it's been

Thanks for all the helpful replies. Shall have a try out on our short breaks away then use the best one when we do our 2 weeks in France. I think my back got better a week in last time due to the never ending topping up of red wine and Kronembourg I did to my system thus rendering my nerves incapable of feeling owt!!!! :D

i found that sleeping with your head towards the front of the van (is that the "wrong way"?) meant that i could control the heater, use the table, switch on the light and put the kettle on without getting out of bed in the morning. that seems a pretty good wrong way to me. :)
