Cheers. Great bit of info there. I guess I could disconnect the permanent live for now. Just means I have to scan for radio stations but I can live with that. Will rewire to the leisure I think. So I guess I just take a positive feed from the leisure battery + terminal and route it up to the stereos permanent 12v connection and use that as the permanent feed.

What about the switched live If I use the leisure battery?? Keep it as it is, connected to the igniton/starter battery?

What about the switched live connection. What do you do with that. Leave it disconnected??

Put both wires on the leisure - simple as that. If you want to add a dash switch to completely disconnect stereo, you could do that but both switched and unswitched could run from leisure ok. Best thing is to try it.

The unswitched is station memory, switched is main stereo power but if its turned off, in theory only the unswitched will use any.

Ok will connect both switched and unswitched to leisure battery live. Can the negative stay as it is or do I need to come off leisure for that?

Negative is common to both batteries so yes thats fine left as it is. The meter mod mentions this also. Would advise you fit one as it'll take the guesswork out of whats going on. Cheap to do.

Ok have rewired radio wires to switched live for now until I get chance to wire from the leisure battery. Have noticed the voltage from the starter battery drops to 11.3v just buy turning the igntion on without starting the van. Is that right?? :?

No it's not right.
Should be close to 12.5 volts

What voltage is it just before you turn it on ?

Or a duff earth connection.
or a duff battery.
or a duff drain on the battery.
or a duff connection from battery to ign switch.
or a duff charging circuit.
or a the starter is fooked
or the solenoid is "not functioning correctly"

Off to bed now :)

Well, it'll drop a bit because of the autochoke etc but see how you go running like that. Your lights weren't on by any chance? If its still a prob, disconnect stereo completely and see if you can trace whats sapping battery power - process of elimination sometimes but putting the stereo on leisure is a good idea either way.

The starter seems to have a flat spot when I turn the key. When the igntion is switched on it isnt a continuous turn over until the engine starts it seems to turn over then stop for a milli second, then fire up. dont seem right. Im wandering If thats zapping the battery as well??
Gonna try and check the connections to the starter this weekend, thats if the sodding rain stops
