non vw..escort stickin brake pedal????..anyone

i know its the scum of the earth lads but ive bought an escort to get me about...1999 td...towed it home as the brakes were draggin....the pedal seems to be stopping an inch or two from the top and the brake lights stay on.....but when you put your foot under the pedal it releases the brakes and drives fine...been parked up 4 2 years ....any suggestions.........ive already changed the flexi's to no avail..........

Sounds like the master cylinder is sticking, especially if its stood for two years...does the servo work?? and get yourself under the dash and see if anything is wrong in the pedal box, they used to wear bushes out :ok

ta duck....i will have a skant tomorrow........asked on a ford forum and was told flexi's definately....£40 lighter n still the same...grrrrrrrrrrr

Used to work at a f o r d dealer about the time that was new, can't ever remember changing flexi's for that...it may just need a good all round brake bleed...

Least it ain't the clutch pedal, how much of a mare is replacing the plastic quadrant!

Used to hold the record for them at our dealership, 7 minutes 45 sec from driving in to driving out.... 8)
