I'll have a look on ekta.. but I had a very early (79 IIRC) 1.6ct and it had electronic dizzy..

Get a part number off the dizzy Ian :ok

Right. looks like some early engines CV,CT,EY,DF engines were available with an "option" to have conventional points.. M904 and M964 (see if you can find the white paper sticker under the dash that has option codes on it.. ) I suppose that was for those peeps that didnt like the thought of an ignition system you didnt have to faff around with every 6k miles... :rofl :rofl Notice its only the low power "cheapo" engines..

Seems to be some different part numbers.. with Nigeria geting its own dizzy for the CT... :?

Some factory models did come with points, they were all destined for African countries.
never, ever, ever seen one here.
To all intents and purposes all T3's should have electronic ignition.
For reasons that have been talked about countless times (search for 009 or retro bodge and you'll see) I won't prattle, but yes they will work and no they aren't right.
By all means use them to get you out of a pickle, but that's it.
If you do end up using one just remember that you'll also need a ignition coil to go with it, or you'll toast your expensive electronic ignition one in to time.
Advance curve is wrong, you have to constantly fanny about with them setting dwell angle to keep them running while electronic ignition delivers approx twice the spark voltage and they generally just work with no maintainance.

JK also said that their DJ replacement engines would run just the same if you put MV electrics and all the gubbins on them too when a pal of mine enquired about a replacement engine
