Last month I had my 1980 2L Aircooled serviced (+new HT leads dizzy cap and rotor arm) at my local garage. Since then I have only taken the van out twice. (once for a day trip and this weekend for Volksworld). I have noticed a lack of power and the engine seems to be rather warm! Also she started to backfire a bit on the way back from Volksworld.
Not being an expert I suspect the timing is out.
Does anyone have any ideas
I am not sure how familiar my garage is with T25's so I am slightly concerned they may have b******d something up
If I take it back to the garage would this be the likely thing they will check. According the rather fat bill I received they should have changed the air and fuel filter.
Or should I try taking it to Jacks Garage or another specialist garage

your rather fat bill ought to say what they replaced...
if not, find out
but I doubt that a fuel filter would have been changed... check it yourself it's just in front of the fuel tank passenger side
Just checked the bill it says they have replaced fuel filter. Had a quick look under the van and it looks pretty new to me. I suppose they must have done a pretty thorough job. I will give them a ring tomorrow and ask them to have a look at the the other things you suggested. I would have a go myself but I have a special talent for rounding nuts and ending up with extra parts So probably best left to the professionals.
Thanks for your help
I'd guess they have poss timed it incorrectly too.. Should be 5 deg BTD with vacs connected and idle stabilisation plugs joined together.. as well as maybe turning the fueling dow too far..
Driving it like that, with whatever is wrong.. WILL damage the engine...
