Diesel water pipe/ long coolant pipe conundrum.

Post by jimpainter »

I have a strange piece of plastic in one of my coolant pipes. It is the pipe that comes off the top of the cylinder head and onto the long pipe to the radiator. On the long pipe there is a recess about an inch up which the pipe seems to slot on to and then the juilee clip sits in it and tightens to it. However in the rubber hose there is what looks like a plastic collar which is well and truly stuck and this seems to but up to the plastic pipe. Is it meant to be there or has it snapped off my plastic pipe and supposed to keep the rubber pipe tight.

I hope this makes sense.

thanks

Are you sure it isn't just the metal support from inside the plastic pipe that prevents the plastic from collapsing when tightening the hose clip? ( has been dislodged by a previous bodger)

Doh that is a broken plastic coller where the pipe fits into the hose.Seen this a few times on the ends of the long plastic pipes.
