Overnight stop near London?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a truckers layby or similar free thing near north or west London? I'm looking to pop down for a night with an early start in the morning & didn't want the cost of a hotel.

Years ago when househunting in London (ready for a move from Nottingham) we used to kip in the middle of Ealing Common.

The road that runs through the middle is surprisingly quiet, given it's a spit from the north circular. Check it on the map
here.

Looks about right that does. Wimbledon Common has a very similar place we have used loads when on the pi$$ in the Village. I know someone who live up their for three months in a westy.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up at the Ealing Common suggestion as it was on my way into London. Very useful litle stopover, it was very quiet and quite secluded considering it's position. Anyway, I will be using it again next and would recommend others do too.
